SAMSON VETEC increases vertical integration and relies on welding technology from Castolin Eutectic

In order to meet ever-increasing demands on quality and delivery reliability, the Speyer-based VETEC Ventiltechnik GmbH decided to re-evaluate the value chain.

This is where we found what we were looking for at Castolin Eutectic. In close cooperation with the design engineers and application specialists from Castolin, we were able to design a machine that fits our needs exactly,” describes Sven Donner, Production Manager at VETEC Ventiltechnik GmbH. “The basis for meeting the customer-specific requirements is the Modular Oscillating System (MOS), which can be completely changed in size and equipment,” explains Knut Schröer, application specialist at Castolin GmbH. In this case, the decision was made in favour of a system with 4 axes, including a rotary swivelling table (maximum payload in horizontal position: 600 kg) in combination with the EuTronic® GAP 3511 DC Synergic plasma power source, in order to be able to weld all required geometries perfectly.
In addition to rotationally symmetrical components such as seat rings and shafts, spherical geometries in particular will be coated in Speyer in the future. Depending on the size and heat input, these can be welded as a whole or in partial steps. For this purpose, the rotary table of the welding machine must have a tilting or swivelling function and also be able to move all axes simultaneously against each other. In addition, the vertical axis of the machine has a so-called Automatic Voltage Control (AVC), which allows automatic adjustment of the arc length even when welding uneven surfaces.
