The term ‘alumina ceramic’ refers to ceramic materials with an aluminium oxide (Al2O3) content above 80%. (Generally, only ceramics with a minimum Al2O3 content of 92% should be used for high-quality wear protection.)
Alumina ceramic is one of the hardest technical materials available and is currently the most important member of the group of oxide ceramic materials from a technical and economical perspective.
Densely sintered, it is characterized by:
– High strength and hardness
– High temperature and corrosion resistance
