Textile warehouses and self-supporting canopies offer a flexible way to effectively enclose transshipment points, building material storage areas, and bulk material storage areas, thereby sustainably reducing dust emissions. AGROTEL arched halls on concrete blocks as box roofing TA-Luft 2021: New requirements for warehouses in concrete plants, recycling, and waste management With the amendment of TA-Luft 2021, the specifications for emission and immission reduction have been redefined. In addition to concrete and asphalt mixing plants, recycling companies, waste management companies, and operators of recycling halls and open building material storage facilities are particularly affected. Wherever bulk materials are stored or handled, the requirements for effective enclosure are increasing significantly. Enclosure requirement for handling locations: focus on warehouses, roofing, and wind protection The TA-Luft requires “complete or largely complete enclosure” for transshipment sites of materials that can lead to dust emissions. This includes closed warehouses, large-area roofing, halls with gates or strip curtains, and enclosed drop-off and transshipment areas (see TA-Luft 2021). In addition, wind protection is required for outdoor loading and unloading operations.

Efficiency in the smallest space:
Emsland-Stärke GmbH, Germany's largest potato starch producer, relies on state-of-the-art filter technology from Infastaub at its Kyritz plant. The dust extraction specialist supplied a custom-designed total separator for a large silo system, combining high throughput with a particularly compact design. A customized solution for demanding conditions: At the Kyritz plant, the challenge was to reliably separate up to 20 tons of potato starch per hour from the conveying air during pneumatic pressure vessel conveying. At the same time, the structural conditions were severely restricted by a limited system height – a standard solution was therefore not an option. Infastaub developed a specially adapted, low-profile filter design. The core of the solution is a special, custom-designed flat vibrating hopper that ensures reliable and continuous product discharge even with the reduced installation height. The system is designed for a volume flow of 1,500 to 2,400 m³/h and ensures legally compliant separation of even the finest particles. Safety to the highest standards and fulfilled customer expectations: Potato starch is classified as a combustible dust and places special demands on explosion protection. The filter system is therefore equipped with a comprehensive, preventative explosion protection concept in accordance with ATEX directives and meets the stringent safety requirements of industrial environments. Following successful installation and commissioning, Emsland-Stärke draws a positive conclusion. Jana Teiche-Hein, responsible for process engineering and fire protection at the Emsland-Stärke plant in Kyritz, emphasizes: "We are very satisfied with the solution. The system does exactly what we envisioned." With this investment, the Emsland Group is further strengthening process safety and efficiency at its Kyritz site.

Everything gets easier
To install mechanical fasteners on conveyor belts, we recommend you skive the belt. Skiving reduces the fastener profile on the belt and improves the compatibility of the fastener with the belt cleaner, increasing the service life of this component. Flexco Europe will also present the FSK2MP in Dortmund. This is a handy, lightweight and easy-to-carry belt skiver, which the service technician can adjust to the required skiving depth. The blade is securely enclosed during the work. The FSK2MP can also be used on most worn and damaged belts. The battery-powered skiver is also up to five times faster than manual skiving. Flexco Europe will also showcase a combination tool consisting of a belt cutter and a skiver. When it comes to mechanical fasteners for conveyor belts, Flexco is the acknowledged specialist. The company will also showcase its innovative solution for steel cord conveyor belts – the Steel Cord fastener range. These belts are often used in systems where long distances or steep gradients necessitate high levels of safety. With this innovative concept, the manufacturer now offers a solution that allows users to fasten belts in only half the time required by existing mechanical systems on the market and roughly one-third of the time needed for vulcanization. Flexco Europe will also go digital with Elevate, a holistic monitoring system that reduces and even avoids unexpected belt downtime in mines and cement works. The Elevate devices attached to the conveyor belt cleaners collect data that can be retrieved in real time via an app or a dashboard, regardless of location. Installation, commissioning, and monitoring procedures are fast and easy to handle. The obtained data enables operators to make informed decisions and take remedial measures quickly. When a malfunction signal occurs involving a preventive on-site belt inspection, for example, they can rectify the problem at an early stage and not simply react when the failure has already happened.
