DMN-WESTINGHOUSE has been designing and manufacturing rotary valves, diverter valves and other related components for the bulk solids handling industry for many years. As an independent company with no involvement in system design, our sole activity is the development, manufacture and sale of these components. DMN-WESTINGHOUSE offers tailor-made solutions to the global food, dairy, plastics, (petro)chemical, pharmaceutical, mineral, power and biomass industries. Our line of rotary valves and diverter valves comprises a number of universal components that are suitable for many applications. We also have a range of dedicated components for use in specific industries or to handle specific products.

Rotary Valve AL/AXL
DMN-WESTINGHOUSE has designed The AL and AXL rotary valves for many applications in the metering and pneumatic conveying of products in powder and granular form. Due to the modular design of this extensive and flexible range of valves many configurations are available, using standard components. The AXL valves are supplied with a larger inlet in relation to rotor volume. They are specifically designed for applications where inlet size is more important than capacity or for handling products with poor flowability. The AL and AXL valve range includes USDA Dairy Accepted models and versions conforming to the EC 1935/2004 directive for sanitary use in the food and pharmaceutical industry. These stainless steel valves are easily detachable within minutes and meet the highest hygienic standards. The AL valves are also available with an optional body having one round and one square flange and a larger diameter inlet: the AML version. The AML valves can also be used as a transition piece from round to square or vice versa. Both AL and AXL standard and Dairy valves are optionally available in MZC execution with slide rails for easy removal of the end cover and rotor without damaging the housing. The AL valves are available in 10 consecutive sizes from 100-500mm (4"-20"), covering a capacity range of the rotor from 0.8-230 litre per revolution at 100% filling. In the 400-500 sizes the valves can also be supplied with square in- and outlet (type OS). The AXL valves are available in 4 sizes from 200- 350, capacity range of the rotor from 5.5-34 litre per revolution at 100% filling. The AXL size corresponds with the dimension of the inlet flange.

Rotary Valve AL/AXL DAIRY
The AL-AXL Dairy rotary valves are designed for use in the food, pet food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries where very high standards apply. The Dairy valves have an official USDA certificate of acceptance for use in dairy plants and are optionally available conforming to the EC 1935/2004 directive. The construction of the valve is designed to avoid bacteriological contamination. All product contact surfaces are in food grade material and smoothly polished. The AL-AXL Dairy valves are optionally available in MZC execution with supporting bars for easy removal of the end cover and rotor without damaging the housing. The MZC valves are easily detachable in a few minutes. The AL Dairy valves are available in 6 sizes, covering a capacity range from approximately 2.5 to 58 liter per revolution at 100% filling. The AXL valves are available in 4 sizes from 200-350, capacity range of the rotor from 5.5-34 liter per revolution at 100% filling. The AXL size corresponds with the dimension of the inlet flange. The body and end covers are constructed from AISI 316 stainless steel (DIN 1.4408). The rotor is manufactured from AISI 316L stainless steel (DIN 1.4404). For special applications, internal and external mirror polishing of the valve is possible. The shaft sealing is by means of gland packing or air purge. The standard models are suitable for temperatures up to 80 °C and a pressure up to 2 bar g. Flameproof and explosion shock-resistant versions up to 10 bar g are also available.

Rotary Valve AL/AXL DAIRY MZC WITH SLIDE RAILS
The MZC rotary valves have been widely used in sanitary applications (Dairy execution) as well as many other applications. The unit has an easy Removeable rotor which can be removed within a few minutes to facilitate inspection and cleaning. The configuration with direct drive has a very narrow construction. The direct drive, in conjunction with a frequency inverter, results in a very flexible, safe and maintenance free unit (no chains or grease). The extraction mechanism offers a high degree of operator safety and gives the line operators considerable flexibility in cleaning and maintaining the equipment between runs. Moreover the stability of the extraction mechanism ensures that the rotor can be easily moved in and out of the housing without damaging the housing or the rotor blades.

BLOWING SEAL - BL/BXL/BXXL
With the expense of fish feed it is important that degredation of pellets is kept to a minimum. With the help of DMN-WESTINGHOUSE valves wastage can be greatly reduced, when transporting from silo to fish pens. Our BL and BXL blow through rotary valves have been designed by DMN-WESTINGHOUSE for many applications in the metering and pneumatic conveying of products in powder and granular form. Due to the modular design of this extensive and flexible range of valves many different configurations are available, using standard components. The BXL valve with enlarged inlet is specifically designed for applications where inlet size is more important that capacity or for handling products with poor flowability. This valve is also available with an extra enlarged inlet: type BXXL. The BL Dairy range includes USDA Dairy Accepted models and versions conforming to the EC 1934/2004 directive for sanitary use in the food and pharmaceutical industry. These stainless steel valves are easy detachable in a few minutes and meet the highest hygienic standards. Both BL and BXL valves are optionally available in MZC execution with supporting bars for easy removal of the end cover and rotor without damaging the housing. The MZC valves are easy detachable in a few minutes. The BL valves are available in 6 consecutive sizes from 150-350, rotor capacity ranging from 2,5-58 litre per revolution at 100% filling. For the bigger sizes (400-500) the valves are supplied with square in- and outlet (type GOS). The BXL valves are available in 4 sizes from 200-350, capacity range of the rotor from 5,5-34 litre per revolution at 100% filling. The BXL size corresponds with the dimension of the inlet flange. The BXXL valve sizes are available upon request.

The body and end covers are made from AISI 316 stainless steel (DIN 1.4408). The rotor is made from AISI 316L stainless steel (DIN 1.4404). For special applications internal and external mirror polishing of the valve is possible. For the BL-BXL valves tri clamp connections are also available. These stainless steel valves are easy detachable in a few minutes and meet the highest hygienic standard. The AML valves are available in 7 consecutive sizes from 100-400, covering a capacity range of the rotor from 0,8 to 58 litre per revolution at 100% filling. Drive options include chain, direct, air and hydraulic drive.

Rotary Valve USAL
The USAL rotary valves have been designed by DMN-WESTINGHOUSE for many applications in the metering and pneumatic conveying of products in powder and granular form. Due to the modular design of this extensive and flexible range of valves many different configurations are available, using standard components. The USAL valves are also available with two optional bodies in various material sorts, one having round-round flanges (AL) and one having round-square fl anges (AML). See separate leaflets for further information. The USAL valves are available in 3 consecutive sizes: 200, 250 and 300 covering a capacity range of the rotor from 5,5 to 19 liter per revolution at 100% filling.

Rotary Valve MLD
The MALD and MLD medium-duty valves are suitable for applications where valves with outboard bearings would be over specified. The valves give exceptional value for money due to the simple construction and direct drive. The basic construction of the three valves is the same, except for the bodies. The valves are suited for both conveying and metering purposes. They are ideal for vacuum conveying applications, big bag unloading, cyclone applications and general-purpose applications. The MALD valve utilizes the AL-valve body, which has two round flanges and is suitable for powders. This valve is suitable for many applications where a valve with outboard bearings would be over-specified. The MLD valve is based on the ML-valve body and is suitable for handling powders. The valve has one round flange and one square flange, both of which are one size larger than the MALD for the same rotor capacity. By this, the valve has a large inlet in relation to the rotor volume so that high filling efficiencies are reached with free-flowing products. The valve can also be used as a transition piece from round to square or vice versa.

Rotary Valve MALD

Rotary Valve SAL
The SAL (Sanitary Airlock) is a low capacity rotary valve with a highly polished surface on both the inside and outside. The SAL is specially designed for metering purposes in applications where stricht hygienic standards are required. Ease of operation and cleaning make the SAL very suitable for use in the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries. The complete valve can be dismantled for inspection and cleaned in a matter of minutes, thus reducing eventual downtime and production loss. The SAL is available in 5 sizes: DN50, DN65, DN80, DN100 and DN150, with capacities of 0.07, 0.13, 0.25, 0.8 and 2.5 litre per revolution at 100% fi lling. Larger sizes are available on request.

Rotary Valve GL
The GL rotary valves are specially designed for gravity feeding and pneumatic conveying of granular products. The configuration of the body and rotor has been developed specifically to minimise degradation whilst retaining the best possible pocket filling efficiency. The special inlet construction minimizes chopping of product. The built-in inlet sheer protector ensures optimal rotor pocket fill. The GL is available in 3 different body configurations: all stainless steel, stainless steel body with alumium end covers and all aluminium. Te full end disc-rotor is made of 316 stainless steel. The GL valves come in 5 sizes, covering a capacity range from approximately 5 to 79 liters per revolution at 100% filling.

Rotary Valve DL
The DMN-WESTINGHOUSE DL dust lock is of a specially designed for filter applications. It can be used with dust filters, cyclones, product separators and dosing systems. The universal flanges are on both sides of the valve are drilled to PN10 and can be used for round-round, square-square and square-round connections. The inlet throat is square, therefore accommodating both round and square outlets frorn the vessel that has to be discharged. The sheer angle inlet minimizes product bridging. The outlet throat of the valve is round so that one can discharge into either a round or square connection.The DL range of valves are available with inlet sizes of 200, 250 and 300 mm and respective capacities of 6, 8.5 and 19 ltr/rev.

DUAL PIPE PLUG DIVERTER - PTD-II
The DMN-WESTINGHOUSE PTD plug type diverters have been specially designed to route powders and pellets with minimum degradation in pneumatic conveying systems. The PTD plug type diverter is applied in the chemical, pharmaceutical, plastic, food and other related industries. A smooth passage of products is guaranteed by precision machining, a good sealing and a complete obstruction free passage. The user friendly fool proof design enables fast in situ internal examination, cleaning and, if necessary, replacement of seals. The PTD design conforms to all current legislation regarding safety in the workplace. Consequently there are no moving parts on the outside. The PTD is available in 7 different pipe sizes: ∅ 50, 65, 80, 100, 125, 150 and 200 mm.

SINGLE PIPE PLUG DIVERTER - SPTD
The SPTD single straight pipe plug diverter has been specially designed to route powders and pellets with minimum degradation in pneumatic conveying systems. The straight pipe makes the SPTD very suitable for applications in the food, pet food, plastics (recycling) and petrochemical industries. A smooth passage of product is guaranteed by precision machining, very effective sealing and a complete obstruction free passage. The user friendly fool proof design enables fast in situ internal examination, cleaning and, if necessary, replacement of seals. The design of the SPTD plug diverter conforms to all current legislation regarding safety in the workplace. Consequently there are no moving parts on the outside. The SPTD is available in 6 consecutive sizes from 150 up to 400. For smaller sizes we offer the SPTDS single straight pipe plug diverter, which is available in 5 consecutive sizes from 50 up to 125.

TUBE DIVERTER - 2-TDV
The 2-TDV and 3-TDV transport pneumatically conveyed products in powder or pellet form to or from two respectively 3 destinations (diverging or converging). The 2-TDV and 3-TDV are compactly designed and by using an additional line cylinder on the 3-TDV very accurate positioning is achieved. The diverters are designed to be easily removed from the line for cleaning (COP – cleaning out of place). It is also possible to purge the individual conveying lines with a cleaning liquid without removing the diverter from the line (CIP – cleaning in place). Removal from the line is only necessary when a complete cleaning operation is required. This gives the customer the option to chose a cleaning method tailored to suit their process. The 2/3-TDV and M-TDV tube diverter range includes USDA Dairy Accepted models.

TUBE DIVERTER - 3-TDV
The 2-TDV and 3-TDV transport pneumatically conveyed products in powder or pellet form to or from two respectively 3 destinations (diverging or converging). The 2-TDV and 3-TDV are compactly designed and by using an additional line cylinder on the 3-TDV very accurate positioning is achieved. MULTI-PORT TUBE DIVERTER VALVE - M-TDV
The M-TDV transports pneumatically conveyed products in powder or pellet form to or from multiple destinations (diverging or converging). The M-TDV design is simplicity itself, and guarantees a high positional accuracy with a minimum of component parts. Available in sizes from 40 to 150 mm (1½" to 6"), with up to 14 ports on the larger models i.e. smaller pipe sizes. The normal supply would consist of the diverter unit, a pre-programmed compact controller with an onboard PLC. The controller works with a binary code input from the customer’s PLC. The M-TDV range includes USDA Dairy Accepted models.

GRAVITY PLUG DIVERTER - GPD
The GPD is a two-way, demountable gravity diverter valve and is ideal for system installations that require frequent cleaning with minimum downtime. Design allows fast disassembly in installed location and easy access to all product-contact surfaces. Material flow through the valve is unrestricted with no ledges or dead spots. The diverters are manufactured in a range of finish options, including sanitary specification. The GPD range also includes USDA Dairy Accepted models. The GPD diverts gravity fed material to either of two lines by a rotating blade that swings through 120° to fully close off the unused port. This is done with extremely close, machined tolerances between rotating blade and body. The GPD is available in 4 sizes: 150, 200, 250 and 300.

FLAP TYPE DIVERTER - FDV
The FDV flap type diverters have been designed to divert powders and pellets in pneumatic conveying systems. The FDV is available in two versions: the FDV-F type with flange fittings and the FDV-P type with pipe fittings. Both versions are available in aluminium, cast iron and stainless steel, in the ranges 50 - 250 for the FDV-F and in the ranges 50 - 150 for the FDV-P. Larger models are available on request. For the FDV there are 4 operating modes: a pneumatic cylinder assembly, a pneumatic actuator assembly, an electrical actuator and hand operation.

BALL TYPE DIVERTER - BTD
The BTD ball type diverter has been specifically designed to converge or diverge abrasive products in pneumatic conveying systems. The diverter is also suitable for systems having relatively high pressures and temperatures, e.g. thermoelectric power stations (coal and fuel oil ash), incinerators, foundries and cement, glass, ceramic, limestone, gypsum and chemical factories. The diverter can be used for both diverting and converging. When diverting the product itself provides the wear surface (most common application). When converging the impact area of the product on the diverter has been considerably strengthened (see dimensional drawing). The BTD is made from ductile spheroidal cast iron and is available in 7 sizes in the ranges 65 - 250.
