About us

The DSIV is an association representing the interests of individuals and companies involved in a wide range of bulk goods activities. This particularly concerns the production, storage, transport and processing of bulk goods. It facilitates and promotes the exchange of opinions and experiences among its members and provides information on all matters of professional interest.

The establishment of an association in the German bulk goods industry was long overdue. Over 1,000 companies in German-speaking countries are connected to the bulk goods processing industries. The spectrum ranges from plant design to the supply of individual components for the processing of bulk goods. The field of bulk material processing industries is also wide-ranging. From the pharmaceutical industry to agriculture, from mining to the food industry and many other areas. It is estimated that approximately 60,000 employees of companies are directly involved with bulk materials. This includes road maintenance workers who spread grit in winter, as well as pharmaceutical technicians who produce pills for pharmaceutical companies.

This also highlights the two areas that the association aims to represent. On the one hand, there are companies and, on the other, individuals who deal with bulk solids. The association organises benefits for both. Companies find that the association protects and promotes their interests vis-à-vis institutions and the economy as a whole. They are provided with a platform for communication and the exchange of opinions and experiences. The qualification, information and further training of young talent, specialists and managers is a priority for the association. Unfortunately, large associations such as VDI, Dechema and VDMA offer very limited services to the bulk solids industry, so more can be achieved by working together.
