Ketten Branscheid is specialised in custom-made products that meet unusual requirements. Supported by 3D CAD/CAM programs and Finite
Element Analyses (FEA) as well as our high-tech laboratory, we can develop products ready for the manufacturing stage in
a very short time.
We manufacture chains from all available types steel and forgeable materials – extremely wear-resistant, acid and rust-resistant and resistant to high temperatures.
Our comprehensive range of forked links covers more than 190 types of chain link, all of which are manufactured in our
own drop forge Branscheid Umformechnik GmbH & Co. KG.

Fully Automatically Machined and Finished Fork Links
The wear resistance and tensile strength of a chain depends largely on the quality of all its single components, an optimum combination of materials and the suitability of the materials for the application. The drop-forged chain is made of special heat treated high alloy steel, standard case hardened to 58-62 HRc and standard hardening depth 0,8-1,0 mm. This provides the optimum forged link with a more resilient core for shock resistance and an extremely hard exterior surface for superior wear resistance. Branscheid offers forged chain links and pins in all grades of stainless steel.

The range of the available forged steel grades reaches from case-hardening steel to heat treatable steel up to corrosion- and acid-resistant or high-temperature-resistant stainless steel grades.

Chain wheels, Toothed Segments and Return Idlers
Our standard chain wheels are manufacured from C45 material and the toothed profiles can either be flame or inductive hardened. For high wear resistant requirements, tooth segments can be manufactured from the entire range of various steels available on the market. For example, the following materials could be used, 42CrMo4 and 16MnCr5 inductive hardened, or 14NiCr14 and 17CrNiMo6, case hardened. Also the sprocket sets made by BRANSCHEID are not only flame cut but each tooth is accurately CNC-milled to maximize the lifetime of the chain wheel.

Manganese steel wear rails
Branscheid wear reils are made from high-manganese steel X120Mn12 (1.3401). The austenitic structure of this steel gives it its excellent toughness. While the hardness of the steel is between 200 - 220 HB when delivered, the surface hardness can increase to up to 600 HB due to strain hardening during operation.
