SPIROLIFT® Vertical Shaftless Spiral Conveying Technology

Shaftless Spiral Conveyors
The shaftless spiral conveyor from SPIRAC ensures higher fill rate and lower speeds resulting in less wear and therefore less maintenance and downtime. Although the spirals can be made from many different types of material, the primary material is a special steel from Sweden that has mechanical properties that give the SPIRAC coil a very high tensile strength. SPIRAC shaftless spiral conveyors are designed for transporting materials that are otherwise difficult to handle, such as dewatered sludge, screenings, grit, industrial sludge and other sticky, viscous, fibrous materials.

SPIROTAINER®
SPIROTAINER® Autofilling containment and road transport bin system. Combined with SPIRAC spiral conveyor systems, offensive waste products are transported, stored and removed from site with minimal operator intervention, virtually odour-, vermin- and insect-free. Storage capacity: Nominal volumes up to 25m3. A permanent onboard spiral conveyor and control system provide automated filling and level control while a robust door-sealing system ensures leakproof transport even with a large liquefied component. Standard truck lifting devices are incorporated into the design to facilitate transport. Once it has reached the destination, the SPIROTAINER® is emptied by simply tilting. BENEFITS OF A SPIROTAINER®: Suitable for screenings, grit (together or separate), or sludge. Deployable outdoors and indoors. Even load distribution along full length of bin. Sliding-Frame Silos and Bunkers
SPIRAC’s sliding frame silo systems complement our spiral conveyor live bottom expertise and expand our experience and competence in offering sludge storage solutions in the water and wastewater industries as well as various industrial applications. What is a sliding frame outloading System? A sliding frame is an extremely efficient extraction system that allows non-free flowing materials to be discharged from a flat bottom silo or receival bunker. These bulk materials can easily block the bottom of a silo by forming a bridge of material. The action of the hydraulically driven sliding frame breaks any bridges that may form over the extraction screw and pushes/pulls the material toward the centre of the silo for discharge. Round silos – The sliding frame is built as an elliptical frame, made of solid steel bars profiled to a wedge shape. This elliptical framework with its wedge profile, pushes under the sludge in one direction and draws it toward the discharge opening in the other, thereby allowing near total emptying of a flat bottom silo. Rectangular silos – the sliding frame is constructed as a rectangular “ladder” shape, transferring material from one wedge shaped “step” of the “ladder” to the next as it oscillates back and forth. This design is suitable for steel or concrete silos or bunkers. Technical details: - Round and rectangular sliding-frame outloading capacity up to 250m3/h (325yd3/h). High out loading rates via multiple shaftless screws, which are manufactured from very durable & abrasion resistant; high tensile micro-alloy steel. - Available in varying geometries and storage capacities ranging from 20m³ to 1000m³. - Allows for vertical walls and cylindrical silo construction, optimizing volume utilization with the capability of reducing height or footprint. - Round Sliding Frame Silos and Bunkers, Diameter 3 - 10m, Height 3 -15m - Rectangular Sliding Frame Silos and Bunkers, Height 3-15m

Live-Bottom Silos
SPIRAC’s live‑bottom silos and hopper systems are designed for the reliable storage, transfer and discharge of non–free‑flowing materials. They are ideal for sticky, cohesive or high‑moisture materials that typically cause bridging, ratholing or blockages. While based on standard design principles, each system can be customised in size, layout and orientation to suit specific site requirements. These silos are usually top‑loaded via shaftless spiral conveyors and discharged using large‑diameter, large‑pitch shaftless screws. Operating at low RPM, these spirals create a true live‑bottom effect that ensures continuous, controlled flow across the full silo width. This design eliminates bottlenecks and maintains consistent movement, even with severely cohesive materials. The preferred geometry is rectangular, enabling multiple screws to work efficiently across the floor. A tapered floor is used to support the live‑bottom mechanism; while this reduces storage volume, it makes the system highly effective for small to medium capacities where dependable flow matters more than maximum volume. Live‑bottom silos offer excellent bridging control, low energy use and a low maintenance profile with no hydraulics. They are a cost‑effective solution for smaller installations where sticky material behaviour makes flow assurance essential. Typical handled materials include sludge cake, cohesive industrial sludges and difficult solids prone to ratholing.

SPIROLINE® Horizontal/Inclined Shaftless Spiral Conveyors
Intended for the transport of difficult, materials – suitable for a wide range of moisture contents and viscosities SPIRAC is the global leader in shaftless spiral (screw) conveying and manufacturing with thousands of installations worldwide. This proven technology offers significant cost and operational advantage over alternate methods of screenings, grit and sludge transport. SPIROLINE® conveyors feature a U-trough with a low RPM shaftless spiral riding on a special low friction long life trough liner. Material handling can place a lot of pressure on equipment, as many of the industries SPIRAC serves feature harmful, possibly corrosive substances. With SPIROLINE®, however, maintenance is significantly reduced when compared to traditional conveying methods. The elimination of a central shaft allows a much higher fill rate meaning solutions are more efficient when it comes to conveying, and consequently suffer less wear and power usage.
