Efficiency in the smallest space:
Emsland-Stärke GmbH, Germany's largest potato starch producer, relies on state-of-the-art filter technology from Infastaub at its Kyritz plant. The dust extraction specialist supplied a custom-designed total separator for a large silo system, combining high throughput with a particularly compact design. A customized solution for demanding conditions: At the Kyritz plant, the challenge was to reliably separate up to 20 tons of potato starch per hour from the conveying air during pneumatic pressure vessel conveying. At the same time, the structural conditions were severely restricted by a limited system height – a standard solution was therefore not an option. Infastaub developed a specially adapted, low-profile filter design. The core of the solution is a special, custom-designed flat vibrating hopper that ensures reliable and continuous product discharge even with the reduced installation height. The system is designed for a volume flow of 1,500 to 2,400 m³/h and ensures legally compliant separation of even the finest particles. Safety to the highest standards and fulfilled customer expectations: Potato starch is classified as a combustible dust and places special demands on explosion protection. The filter system is therefore equipped with a comprehensive, preventative explosion protection concept in accordance with ATEX directives and meets the stringent safety requirements of industrial environments. Following successful installation and commissioning, Emsland-Stärke draws a positive conclusion. Jana Teiche-Hein, responsible for process engineering and fire protection at the Emsland-Stärke plant in Kyritz, emphasizes: "We are very satisfied with the solution. The system does exactly what we envisioned." With this investment, the Emsland Group is further strengthening process safety and efficiency at its Kyritz site.
