STEINERT UME electromagnetic overbelt magnetic separators are characterised by their extremely strong and far-reaching magnetic fields. The magnetic field is particularly strong in the centre of the magnet and has a pronounced depth effect. As a result, ferrous parts are reliably detected even from great layer heights. At higher belt speeds and belt widths, these magnets have proven themselves worldwide over many decades.

STEINERT UME have a comparatively low power-to-weight ratio due to the special ANOFOL coils made of anodised aluminium strip. ANOFOL coils are insensitive to temperature and, with their rectangular and compact design, fill almost the entire magnetic separator volume. The heat transfer to the outer wall is maximised, which enables a dry design without oil filling. Most overbelt magnetic separators of this type do not require active air cooling. In comparison, round coils have the disadvantage of only partially filling the magnetic separator housing, resulting in a shorter and narrower magnetic field and an increased cooling requirement.
