Scrap Metal Cleaning by Vibratory Screen VSL

interVIB GmbH supports steel mills and foundries improving their scrap metal quality. The key equipment, besides a magnetic drum, is the Linear Vibratory Screen VSL with special designed 3D-screening cassettes. The surface is designed to operate jam and clog free, including a high life time. This special vibratory screen takes out fines like sand and rust dust, improving the scrap metal quality. This reduces the energy consumption of the furnace and the unwanted amount of slag. By taking out unwanted fines, which can be up to 10% of the scrap volume, and the downstream operating magnetic drum MD, a scrap purity of 99.5% can be achieved The complete set up includes a metering vibratory feeder TCV, the vibratory screen VSL, the magnetic drum MD and a vibratory trough conveyor TCV collecting the fines and the non-ferrous material. Capacities of 25 – 200 to/hr can be realized. It is possible to rent out a semi-transportable testing device, either to trail the set up or to examine the delivered scrap metal qualities at your site.

    2. Scrap Metal Cleaning for Green Steel

Scrap Metal Cleaning for Green Steel

The complete Scrap Metal Cleaning Plant SMCP MAX includes the infeed hopper 10-15 cbm with a Vibratory Feeding Table TCV delivering to the very special interVIB Scrap Metal Vibratory Screen VSL, including special 3D-screening cassettes and cascades revolving the conveying good ensuring that all dead spots and large surfaces are cleaned out from the fines. The Vibratory Screen delivers to an electromagnetic drum MD built by one of interVIB’s trustful sub-supplier. The fines are collected underneath the screen onto an incline belt conveyor GFB. An Overbelt Magnet MA takes out ferrous material from the fines and returns this to the melt material. The non-ferrous material falls down between the Screen and the Magnetic Drum onto a very robust collecting Vibratory Trough Conveyor TCV. The robust design including bolted in wear plates ensuring that material up to 100 kg can fall onto this equipment and is transferred to another incline belt conveyor GFB with chevron surface. At all locations wherever conveying good is falling or gets thrown, a special water atomization fogging equipment is installed. This is a two-substance system consisting of air and water built by Nebolex Umwelttechnik GmbH and is integrated into the control cabinet operating only when material is present. This is a very environmental friendly dust binding installation saving resources.

    3. Scrap shredding

      Scrap shredding

The Electric Arc Furnaces in Steel Plants use ferrous scrap among other raw materials. This ferrous scrap has to be shredded before feeding the EAF. There are two main components in the scrap shredder: discs and hammers between the discs. The scrap is fed from a conveyor belt so these discs are exposed to impact and considerable pressure onto their surfaces exerted by contaminated scrap. In M&R, it is not always possible to carry out a proper preparation of the welding surface and edges, to select the more comfortable welding position or properly clean the surface. These conditioning factors were found when rebuilding the rotor’s discs in this scrap shredding machine. In this case, the biggest difficulty was to clean the surface from a thick layer of dust and to have a regular profile without the previously damaged hardfacing. Based on these preliminary conditions, the wear phenomena affecting the discs and our know-how, EnDOtec DO*05 was selected as a buffer layer and TeroMatec 4923 as a hard layer. DO*05 has been successful in many other applications as buffer layer without any porosity and cracks. TeroMatec 4923 has resulted in a well bonded surface resistant against impact, pressure and abrasion. The previous solution lifetime was 2 days and we achieved 3 weeks with our solution.
