PUCEST conveyor belt optimization – shed all your worries

Conveyor belt cleaning at the highest level. The PUCEST head scraper is a key component for conveyor belt cleaning, as it removes adhering material directly at the head drum. It is extremely wear-resistant, gentle on the belt, and easy to install. Thanks to its flexibility, it adapts perfectly to the conveyor belt, thus ensuring an extended service life for the system. Smart addition: Even wear protection components eventually experience their own wear. Therefore, as wear increases, the PUCEST head scraper can be retensioned in just a few steps, so that the contact area and scraping pressure remain constant, and thus also the cleaning performance. Meanwhile, the patent-pending PUCEST bottom belt scraper roller ensures efficiency under the belt. It was specially developed for cleaning the bottom belt. Consisting of a drive, shaft, and flexible scraper blades, the latter ensure thorough and belt-friendly cleaning and reliable material removal, while the roller is actively motor-driven and operates against the direction of travel of the conveyor belt. The flexible lamellae adapt perfectly to the conveyor belt, and the individual rings can be replaced at any time if needed. The wiper roller is available for all common belt widths, making it a versatile solution for conveyor belt cleaning. Thanks to the durable PUCEST material, the bottom belt wiper roller offers a long service life and particularly gentle belt cleaning.

REMA TIP TOP simplifies the inspection of conveyor belts with MCube CAM

The inspection process is simple and efficient: First, the conveyor belt is filmed with a standard smartphone, and the video is then uploaded via the REMA TIP TOP upload platform. The AI-powered software automatically detects cracks, defective joints, edge and surface damage, and other anomalies. The software then generates a detailed report, including a defect map with severity ratings, high-resolution images, and recommended actions. This provides users with a transparent, objective, and standardized evaluation that can be used for operational maintenance as well as for compliance and audit purposes. MCube CAM's recommendations are based on REMA TIP TOP's decades of expertise in mining and conveyor technology, which has been incorporated into the AI training and the software itself. “We have succeeded in making continuous conveyor belt monitoring as simple, accurate, and cost-effective as possible. Since everyone carries a smartphone these days, plant operators incur no additional costs for purchasing expensive maintenance equipment to use MCube CAM. With MCube CAM, AI image analysis replaces the visual inspection often performed by individuals,” explains Dr.-Ing. Daniel Kasperek, Head of REMA Engineered Technologies at REMA TIP TOP. MCube CAM is suitable for all types of conveyor belts – from overhead and pipe conveyors to long main and transport belts, as well as inclined and downward conveyors. The product can therefore be used in many industries, such as mining, the building materials and recycling industries, and logistics providers. MCube CAM offers clear advantages, especially in hard-to-reach or enclosed areas: Manual inspections are reduced, employee safety is increased, and damage is detected early, before it leads to costly downtime.

Sachtleben Technology and Axians IAS enter into partnership!

In many sand, gravel and bulk material plants, warehousing and loading processes are still largely manual. A lack of transparency and inaccurate inventory data lead to waiting times, inefficient transfers and unnecessary production orders. Two established providers – Sachtleben Technology, a specialist in sensor-based material detection, and Axians IAS, a provider of digital plant logistics solutions – have now entered into a strategic partnership and are addressing this challenge with an integrated solution that makes real-time data on material availability available for the automated control of loading processes. Sachtleben's OWL EYE® system uses LiDAR sensors to continuously measure the volume of stockpiles and record material flow on conveyor belts. This material inventory and flow data is retrieved in real time via an API from Axians IAS's VAS® Yard Management, where it forms the basis for automated decisions, such as selecting the loading point with the highest fill level or controlling loading with pinpoint accuracy. ‘The combination of continuous material inventory tracking and intelligent logistics control shows how digitalisation creates concrete added value in the building materials industry,’ says Quirin Krauss, Managing Director of Sachtleben Technology GmbH. For Marc Graner, Managing Director of Axians IAS, the collaboration with Sachtleben Technology demonstrates the importance of integration with partner companies: ‘Thanks to our partner integration, we can access additional valuable data and thus further automate and optimise our customers' processes.’ The solution is scalable and suitable for both large and medium-sized plants. Initial projects are already running successfully at leading building materials manufacturers. The combination of automatic material inventory recording and digitised plant logistics offers great potential for use in other areas such as management dashboards, automated production planning and just-in-time loading.

      Showcase Fantoni

Four years on, a revisit to the Italian wood panel specialist FANTONI reveals how a partnership with STEINERT enabled a new global benchmark: furniture-grade MDF with over 70% recycled content in its core. For nearly 150 years, FANTONI S.p.A. has been a benchmark in producing engineered wood products like Medium-Density Fibreboard (MDF). Four years after commissioning one of Europe’s most advanced sorting facilities, a revisit to their headquarters confirms the lasting success of a truly visionary project. Where many in the industry struggle to achieve 15-20% recycled content, enabled by STEINERT, FANTONI now routinely produces premium MDF panels with up to 70% recycled material in their core layers. The facility processes approximately 450,000 tonnes of recycled wood annually, a testament to a bold engineering vision that has redefined what is possible in sustainable manufacturing. Beyond Wood Waste: A Truly Circular Model Perhaps FANTONI's most significant breakthrough is pioneering a process that recycles not just post-consumer wood, but end-of-life MDF panels themselves. "We can also use waste MDF again in the process, which is very important because recycling MDF itself is a known problem," explains Marco Fantoni. This creates a truly circular production model where today's furniture becomes tomorrow's raw material. The Path Forward FANTONI's facility demonstrates that achieving 70% recycled content in premium wood panels requires proven technology and engineering excellence. As regulatory requirements increasingly drive demand for recycled content, this approach offers a roadmap for the industry's sustainable future—proving that environmental responsibility and market leadership can advance together.
