Make lifting child’s play: Maintain conveyor belts ergonomically with Flexlifter from Flexco
Make lifting child’s play: Maintain conveyor belts ergonomically with Flexlifter from Flexco Flexco has developed an innovative device for the ergonomic maintenance of conveyor belts in coal mines, steelworks and wood-processing mills. The Flexlifter enables service personnel to hoist the tensioned belt on the system to the required height without physical exertion. The belt lifter can be loaded with up to three tonnes and is available in three sizes. And because of its particularly lightweight construction, the technician can move it about with ease. Depending on the application, conveyor belt systems transport heavy, pointed or sharp-edged materials. In doing so, they are subjected to dirt and dust as well as atmospheric conditions such as temperature variations, moisture and sunshine. Under these conditions, belts have to be regularly maintained to avoid premature machine failures and to ensure availability at all times. To enable technicians to renew connectors, for example, or to replace tension rollers, they raise the conveyor belt at the appropriate point on the system to a suitable height. This work is not only accompanied by a significant risk of injury. It takes time and is physically very strenuous. With the Flexlifter, the Flexco range now includes an ergonomic belt lifter for this gruelling activity. The device is available in three sizes: “Medium” for belt widths from 900 to 1,500 mm, “Large” for 1,200 to 1,800 mm and “XL” for 1,800 to 2,400 mm. The largest version can accommodate up to 2,700 kg. Being made of anodised aluminium, the belt lifter is particularly lightweight and resistant. It is therefore easy for the user to transport and position on the conveyor belt. The powerful scissor lift platform raises the belt safely to a height of 350 to 400 mm without damaging the belt. If more height is required, the Flexlifter can be fitted with extendable feet. After assembly, these rest securely on the conveyor structure. The personnel can now slide the belt lifter over the conveyor belt and position it at right angles on the system. The Flexlifter can be used on both the top belt and on the return belt. To raise the belt to the required height, the technician operates the Flexlifter with a manual ratchet or hammer drill. The belt lifter is fitted with a two-rail system in order to handle the high loads safely and stably. To enable operators to use the Flexlifter even in the exceptional conditions found in underground mines – such as Arctic cold or extreme heat – Flexco also supplies the components designed to CEMA standard. And so that they know they can work safely with this innovative device, the Flexlifter now also has a CE certificate.

Milestone in dynamic truck weighing
BATSCH's new dynamic truck scales are unique in the world, as the legal-for-trade scales with SysTec weight indicators can achieve an accuracy of +/- 1 percent at a travel speed of up to 35 km/h. The legally enforcable weighing results can be sent to the EDP in real time - in case of an overloaded truck, a direct fine is possible. The requirements of EU Directive 2015/719 are fully met - according to this, all EU member states must take measures in 2021 to be able to determine whether the permissible axle loads or total masses of vehicles have been exceeded. Thus, the W&M approved Weigh-in-Motion systems, which are successfully in operation at the traffic control station on Austria's A5 northern highway, make an important contribution to better road safety. Thanks to vehicle scales, there are fewer accidents caused by overloaded trucks. In addition, the economic costs are reduced due to less road damages. The evaluation system of the dynamic truck scale consists of a network of several SysTec weighing terminals, which in a coordinated manner and independently of each other determine partial results of the displayed weights. In this demanding application, the high update rates of the fast SysTec weighing electronics were an important criterion. "The variety of applications in the scale and software sector requires ongoing innovation and further development in order to maintain and further expand the market position we have achieved! That is why we use smart and legal-for-trade weighing terminals from SysTec, as they can be flexibly adapted to our requirements. Our new Weigh-in-Motion systems are a milestone in dynamic truck weighing," says Hans Batsch, Managing Director of BATSCH Waagen & EDV GmbH & Co KG.

New: Automated bucket filling line with SysTec weighing electronics
At the Hilti site in Kaufering, Germany, SysTec‘s partner KESTERMANN GmbH recently installed a fully automated filling system for the W&M approved filling of buckets with robot handling. A fire protection paste is filled into containers of different sizes - quickly, precisely and efficiently. SysTec’s powerful IT8000E weighing terminals in combination with the FILL E application software ensure a high throughput. The key facts - Automatic weighing instrument (AWI) for filling of buckets - W&M approved filling of liquids - Robust weighing electronics - PROFINET connection - Fast filling of containers with different sizes (5, 10, 15 and 20 liters) The process A multi-stage and fully automated process takes place during the filling of the buckets: First, the product code is scanned by a supervisor. The filling parameters are stored in the IT8000E weighing terminal and the automated filling process can start: At the first station, a robot takes over the destacking of the buckets. They are then transported on a conveyor belt to the weighing station, where a filling system fills the buckets. Here, the SysTec weighing electronics ensure precise and fast filling of the fire protection paste into the containers. In the next step, a foil is applied to the bucket. Then a robot places the bucket lid on the filled bucket. At the last station, the lid is pressed firmly onto the bucket by a press-on device and sealed. Among the advantages of the SysTec weighing systems with W&M approval are the PROFINET connection, the robustness of the weighing electronics and the product-specific parameter settings.

No dust during the production of energy bars at HERZA
HERZA Schokolade GmbH & Co. KG, based in Norderstedt near Hamburg, is one of the leading suppliers of functional quality chocolate for the processing industry and energy and protein bars for brands and private labels. Customers benefit from a high degree of innovation and flexibility and more than 100 years of experience in the production of confectionery. HERZA relies on innovative and reliable technology throughout the entire production process. Infastaub GmbH from Bad Homburg v.d.H. can make a small contribution to the high quality of the products. In a preliminary process in the production of chocolate or energy bars, various toppers such as crispies or flakes are added. This creates dust. The dust extraction system from Infastaub GmbH efficiently ensures that this dust does not escape into the ambient air. In addition to avoiding dust, it was important for HERZA that the system could operate quietly in this environment. This was ensured by silencers and the encapsulated fan, which achieves an output of 3,600 m³/h. The extraction system supplied and implemented by Infastaub in 2023 is equipped with a frequency converter, which means that the suction power can be easily adjusted when changing products. The system is located in the production room and is regularly cleaned with washing liquid, which is why the entire system is made of stainless steel. In addition, the system allows recirculation operation thanks to the integrated post-filter stage.
