Weighing modules VC 3500/ LCM 460 for silos and tanks

The VC 3500 and LCM 460 are heavy-duty modules for weighing silos, hoppers, tanks and mixers. The special construction of the modules permits installation directly between the foundation or substructure and hopper support. The module ensures the optimal force transmission and a very high lift-off and lateral load safety - normally without additional transverse link and captivation mechanics. For nominal loads from 2 up to 200 t. Use: - Fill level and inventory control - For mixer and hopper with agitator - For bunker, also with discharge bottom - Particularly for installations in outdoor areas - For precise silo weighing Benefits: 1. Measuring accuracy - Both modules are equipped with high-precision double shear beam load cells made of stainless steel. The LCM 460 even has an OIML R60 approval C3 for nominal loads up to 20 t. The construction of the module provides optimum force transmission into the load cell, thus ensuring reliable and exact weighing results. 2. Safety - The special construction of the modules protects the load cell from high lift-off and transverse loads, thus ensuring the installation of the weighing module directly between foundation and tank support. No additional transverse and captivation mechanics is required. Slight tilting can also be compensated. 3. Protection - Locking screws in the upper section of the module protect the load cell from such shock loads as may occur upon installation of the silo. An additional ground strape serves as overvoltage protection. 4. Easy replacement of load cell - The load cell is installed in the module in such a way that the load cell can be replaced also without removing the module. MTS offers numerous load cells and modules for silo and hopper weighing. Load cells and modules are selected according to the design, size and construction of the containers, the installation and environmental conditions and the required accuracy.

    2. Weighing Screw Conveyor with automatic calibration cycle

Weighing screw conveyor with automatic calibration. Weighing screw conveyor perform a dual function – they transport the bulk material from A to B and measure the throughput (t / h) and the absolute quantity delivered (t) simultaneously. Especially for fine and dusty products, such as white lime, hydrated lime, cement and starch a weighing screw conveyor provides the advantage of dust-free conveying. Due to the dual function (conveying and weighing) this results in an economical solution compared to conventional weight feeders and solids flow - measuring instruments. Requirements for the use of weighing screw conveyors: 1. To ensure optimum transport of the bulk material in conjunction with a precise weighing, the inlet- and the outlet connection must be fully decoupled. The input feed should be controlled via a rotary valve or a second screw conveyor. 2. The screw should only be filled to maximum 40% of the conveying capacity -otherwise a part of the conveyed product is thrown over and double-weighted. 3. Evt. Caking in the conveyor tube or on the screw flights should be zeroed periodically. Especially the third point can often not be realized in practice. Screw conveyor often dose additives (eg. hydrated lime in the flue gas desulfurization) and are in operation 24 hours arround the clock. In order to still be able to use the serious advantages of weighing screw conveyor, Hense Wägetechnik has developed a concept for automatic "self-calibration" in continuous operation. Functionality: The weighing screw is feed via a small hopper with a rotary valve in the discharge. The hopper is mounted on 4 precise "Clevermount" - weighing modules. The static hopper weighing system and the “weighted screw conveyor are connected to the same evaluation electronic. The “self calibration cycle” can be started periodically (over a programmable time) or externally from the PLS system. In the first step the hopper is filled to an adjustable weight. This value can be preselected in the evaluation electronic. The weighing electronics transmits a signal "start calibration cycle" to the parent PLS system. The filling of the hopper is stopped during the calibration. After a short settling time, the electronics stores the container weight (kg) and the state of the totalizer (kg). The electronic system now “waits” until the weight of the product in the hopper is reduced by an adjustable value (eg. 100 kg). Now the electronics compares the reference quantity (eg. 100 kg) withdrawn from the hopper to the counter of the weighing screw - on exceeding a defined fault tolerance, the system performs an automatic correction calibration. Furthermore, all data is logged in a log table and optionally set a tolerance alarm.

Recycling centers are the hub for disposal and recycling. They play a central role in the collection, correct disposal and reuse of all types of waste. Their importance for the circular economy as well as climate and resource protection continues to grow. Recycling centers and recycling yards have developed in recent years from small "yards" into modern recycling centers with the appropriate infrastructure and logistics. This makes planning and implementing halls and roofs for municipalities, municipal waste disposal companies and waste management facilities an exciting task for us. The increasing environmental awareness in society and the trend towards recycling are placing ever higher demands on the logistics and infrastructure of recycling centers. The operators must also comply with a large number of requirements and legal regulations. We design our halls for recycling centers and recycling yards accordingly. When planning halls, we ensure that waste can be separated and recycled as best as possible. Recycling centers make a contribution to environmental protection. In order to recycle and reuse in the spirit of the circular economy, recycling centers need more and more storage space for a wide variety of recyclables and materials. Many of these require a hall or at least a roof. This begins with the acceptance and applies above all to the temporary storage of recyclable materials and objects. A roof or hall is necessary depending on the type of waste, e.g. for paper and cardboard, old clothes or even for old electrical and electronic devices. This is the only way to ensure optimal return to the economic cycle.

    6. Wet Separator for vacuuming reactive materials NA7-26

Wet Separator for vacuuming reactive materials NA7-26

The wet separator is suitable for picking up challenging particles which are sticky, hazardous to health, highly combustible, reactive or even explosive. It is the best solution to collect metal dusts and powders made of aluminum, magnesium and titanium. Collecting the particles, the wet separator clears the air stream by bonding the particles with a liquid in the dust container. Here, the dust-laden air stream flows through the liquid and creates turbulence for the wet separation. Bonded particles sediments to the bottom of the dust container while the remaining particles of the air stream are filtered by a dust class H classified filter.

    7. Wireless belt-alignment switch ZS 92 SR with RF I/O

Wireless belt-alignment switch ZS 92 SR with RF I/O

Combining the ZS 92 SR belt alignment switch with the RF I/O radio module has enabled steute to develop a new and robust wireless switching system. The Zs 92 SR is an exceptionally robust switching device with a multiple-coated die-cast aluminium enclosure monitors the alignment of conveyor belts. Its actuator lever detects any belt misalignment. In such cases, the switch triggers a stop of the conveyor system or a correction of the belt – depending on its integration within the control system. The signal is usually sent to the control system via a cable. But when large distances are involved, this requires a great deal of cabling, and rough environments with their adverse conditions are more prone to disturbances and downtimes than clean production areas. Taken by steute in collaboration with an interested gravel works operator, it was a logical step to develop the ZS 92 SR further: the belt alignment switch has now been adapted to communicate with the control system via radio. Another contributory factor making this a logical step was that both the necessary hardware and the wireless technology already existed: steute offers a wide range of industrial wireless switching devices, e.g. position switches, foot switches and sensors, which use the sWave wireless protocol developed by steute and which are to be found in countless successful applications. These two technologies have now been combined. The belt alignment switch is connected to a separate RF I/O module. Via sWave, this transmitter unit passes on any signals arriving from the switch to a wireless receiver – reliably, without cables, and over outdoor distances of up to approx. 400 metres. Users can install additional repeaters for even longer distances. Two belt alignment switches can be connected to each RF I/O module, and each switching device transmits a two-level wireless signal. At the first level this could be a warning signal, while the second level could trigger a shutdown of the conveyor system.

    8. Wood pellet pneumatic conveying

      Wood pellet pneumatic conveying

REEL Möller has installed two new 100t/h pneumatic conveying lines at the RWE Eemshaven power plant. These are the worlds longest pneumatic conveying lines for up to 100t/h wood pellets. Wood pellet handling Switching fuels has implications across the power plant flow sheet. Wood pellets require different handling and safety measures than coal. They are very coarse compared to mineral bulk materials, a different, more uniform shape, abrasive and, of course, highly combustible and, for the wood pellet fines fractions, explosive. Pneumatic conveying of wood pellets is challenging.
