The camera-based STEINERT technology is also used here. The difference to the standard HSI camera lies primarily in the frequency range analysed.       NIR sorting unit with Hyper Spectral Imaging camera technology for optimised sorting of 2D materials Up to 50% more throughput than standard systems Lightweight 2D fractions such as plastic film and bags, as well as paper and fibres, tend to float at high belt speeds due to their low weight per unit area and can only be sorted at low throughput rates with conventional systems. For good performance, all objects should also be separated on the belt and overlapping objects should be avoided. This is less of a problem for applications with 3D material, as the transfer of the objects to the acceleration belt usually ensures sufficient separation. This separation is much more challenging for lightweight 2D components. This is because these flat objects tend to fly and cannot be accelerated to the usual high belt speed of 3 metres per second. As a consequence, the speed of the acceleration belt is usually significantly reduced, which minimises the tendency to lift off (fly) on the belt. However, reducing the belt speed is counterproductive - especially in the area of lightweight 2D objects: Low basis weight combined with reduced belt speed further shrinks the possible throughput per metre of working width of the separator. This makes sorting uneconomical overall due to the large working widths required.
